Its a New Day in America

Wii, originally uploaded by Ramen Junkie.

So after three mind blowing days at the Gaming, Learning, and Libraries Symposium I am renewed, inspired, and more game crazy than ever. I'm hoping to offer a more comprehensive overview at a later date, but for now let me say that I am thinking very seriously about how to integrate the learning of games (and not just video games) in to the the educational experience I provide. I'm already doing open Wii and DDR gaming with the teens at my library, but I'm ready to jump in to the tournament circuit. Well, except for my lack of funds for equipment. Lots to think about.

In the mean time, I just read a fantastic article from Angry-Gamer.net about how the Wii is reshaping the console wars and entertainment in general. I'm not sure I'm ready to declare Mario and Link as dead, but I am totally with Miyamoto and the path he's blazing.

I am sometimes totally overwhelmed with inspiration at what libraries have the potential to accomplish. This is totally one of those times.
